One Perfect Day Melbourne launch: Readings, 2013
One Perfect Day is the story of my very dear friend, Veronika Csosz, and her experience as a young woman growing up in post-World War II Hungary. Veronika fled as a refugee after the 1956 Hungarian Uprising was crushed by Soviet forces. She was one of 200,000 people who fled and - thanks to neighbouring countries which opened their arms in welcome and international efforts to relocate to safety - found new homes around the globe. Veronika and husband Pal settled in Melbourne where they lived their lives happily, bringing up twin daughters Ronnie and Terrie. Veronika and I spent two years working together in interviews and drafting. She passed away in 2011, happy that her memoir was complete, although she passed away before it was published.
